Personification in Oedipus Rex
Personification Examples in Oedipus Rex:
Although Thebes has already taken the form of the Chorus in the play, Jocasta personifies the city to place further importance on public opinion. This personification makes the city a living entity and gives it humanity, making its advice more difficult to ignore. Oedipus acknowledges public opinion, but fails to seriously take it into account over the course of the play, and is thus misled by his own ignorance.
